How we approach authenticity

We're building rareDepot around graded, verifiable collectibles — and a formal authentication program is in the works. Here's what that means for buying today.

Our approach

Verifiable items over vague promises

The collectibles market runs on trust. rareDepot is designed around items that carry independent verification — PSA, BGS, CGC, WATA, and BBCE graded or sealed product — so you can check a slab's cert number or a grade against public population reports before you buy.

A full in-house authentication program (items routed through an authentication partner before reaching the buyer) is planned but not yet live. Until it is, we won't claim items are individually authenticated by rareDepot.

What you can do today

  1. 1

    Check the grade and cert

For graded items, verify the cert number directly with PSA, BGS, CGC, WATA, or CBCS before you buy.

  2. 2

    Review the seller

Look at the seller's shop, history, and community presence. Established local shops sync inventory from their point of sale.

  3. 3

    Inspect on arrival

Compare the item against the listing photos as soon as it arrives, and document any mismatch.

  4. 4

Open a dispute if something's off

If the item isn't as described, open a dispute from your order page and we'll work it with you and the seller.

Frequently asked questions

Does rareDepot authenticate items itself?expand_more
Not yet. A partner authentication program is planned. Today, we encourage buying graded/certified items whose authenticity can be independently verified.
What if an item I receive isn't authentic?expand_more
Open a dispute from your order page. Misrepresented items are grounds for a dispute with the seller, and sellers who misrepresent items are removed.
How do I verify a graded item?expand_more
Every major grader (PSA, BGS, CGC, WATA, CBCS) offers a free cert-number lookup on their website. Match the cert on the slab to the listing photos.
When will the authentication program launch?expand_more
We'll announce it in the app and by email when it's live. Until then, no listing on rareDepot should claim rareDepot-verified authentication.
